I Tried the New Joggo Running App – It Actually Works

Running apps are all the rage, but many people question how effective they are for getting in shape. So when our editor Lauren tested the new Joggo app, we loved to see how the app truly helped her get in shape. 

Ever since I could remember myself, I’ve always been someone who’s struggled with my size. 

My weight kept going up and down over the years, until two years ago when I managed to hit my “ideal weight.” 

I didn’t have abs or anything, and it didn’t come easy, but I managed to stay in pretty good shape. 

Then the pandemic hit. 

My job became super hectic (14–16 hours every day plus weekends). I was locked in alone due to the lockdown restrictions.  

I was stressed out, and I just kept getting lazier.

Soon, meal-prepping salads gave way to ordering fast food 

I stopped being mindful of my meals. Food became one of my few comforts. 

Honestly, I began feeling numb. No motivation. I regressed and, well, forgot to exercise.

A whole week would pass by without me stepping outside. 

I also developed this weird habit of mindlessly scrolling through Facebook and Instagram for hours on end. 

Trawling through random photos and spying on other people’s feeds like a Peeping Tom. 

But the real kick in the butt that woke me up came next. 

Annoyance, sadness. A whole range of emotions flashed through my head when I realized none of my jeans fit

How did I let this happen to myself?

All those years of effort gone to waste – and for what? Food? More flavor?

I wouldn’t let this pass. 

I couldn’t join a gym because of the pandemic. I did a few sit-ups and squats here and there, but finding the strength to do all body workouts or join an online work-out group? 

Yeah, right. Good luck.

So I started googling for home workout options, and I found a few apps. But all of them looked SO extreme.

I was intimidated, but I tried a few of the workouts anyway and shouldered through the exercises. 

All that did was make me sore to the touch for an entire week (no joke). 

I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t looking for a workout plan that’s hard and drives me nuts… 

All I wanted was something easy to stick to that provides a steady, quick, and effective way of getting into shape and out of my head. 

And then I found something…

The Joggo running app was exactly what I needed

“Running! Why didn’t I think about it earlier?” I remember thinking while scrolling through the app and reviews. 

Some of the happiest times and sense of achievement I have felt in my life have been because of running. I really wanted to feel that again, so I’ve decided to give running one more shot. 

Since the app was built precisely for beginners, I can’t even describe how easy it was to get into.

First things first: I had to fill out a quick quiz about my current fitness level, height, weight, lifestyle, and goals. 

I also decided to go for the custom meal plan to keep myself accountable and take out the guessing game from figuring out what I can and cannot eat. 

While I explored it, I was amazed that the app came with many features designed to help me lose weight and regain my fitness.

After the quiz and first free run, the running program I received was amazing. It’s a bit like having a personal trainer, only a hundred times less expensive. 

Whenever I didn’t want to run, I would tell myself, “Remember that wonderful feeling and burst of happiness you’ll feel after the run.” Together with motivational tips from the app and its experts, it has kept me going consistently.

All of my runs also consisted of easy-to-follow warm-up and cool-down exercises. I didn’t need any props for them, so all I needed to do was show up and do them!

After the first two weeks of my exercise routine with the app, I logged on and filled the feedback form. 

It was so easy for me to upscale my exercises with a more difficult task.

That continued for about 3 months… 

And then I saw the weight starting to fall off. 

That motivated me to do more, and the more I did, the more I got my mojo back.

Here’s what you should know about the Joggo app

I got quick results with a personalized running plan. But the running is still, well, a workout. 

Even initially, I wasn’t feeling wiped out by the end of each run, but you do need to break a sweat to see results. 

My advice? Power through and do what you can. Then pat yourself on the back and be patient. Your body can get stronger.

And it’s hard to run yourself thin if you don’t watch your diet. Luckily, Joggo comes with a personalized meal plan that keeps things really simple.

You don’t have to follow it 100% to see results… but it will help your body transform even faster if you follow it.

Okay, that’s the “hard” stuff about Joggo. Now that we got that out of the way… 

Here are some reasons why I REALLY loved the Joggo app

For one, the app kicked me out of my pandemic slump. 

My biggest concern with running was being motivated enough to actually do it and go outside for a run.  

I hate to admit this, but I’m inherently a bit of a lazy person. 

Providing the running schedule tailored to my needs and fitness level made running so much more bearable for me. It was something I could actually do. 

Also, the app comes with free audio guides, so I didn’t need to look at my phone constantly. 

And soon enough, I started liking running again. It made me feel GOOD. 

I have gained a lot from this app. 

I feel like I have the power to do more, and I fit into my jeans again!

I no longer feel like I have to hide my body all the time.

I enjoy going out with my friends and not spending time just scrolling through my phone, watching how other people are taking all they can from life. 

I couldn’t believe I had put off making this change for so long, but I was ecstatic that I had finally done it!

Joggo had given me the best gift I could’ve ever asked for. It had given me back my joy for life, and I truly felt that for the first time in ages, I was running my own life!

And frankly, I have more energy and look better than… well, ever. This is what I look like now!
