How Seniors Can Manage Weight More Effectively Without Counting Calories Or Carbs

Losing fat, and getting healthier without giving up your favorite foods or counting calories can be relatively easy.

I now fit clothes I couldn’t fit for years and did it all without starving or depriving myself, counting calories, or feeling guilty around the foods I like.

Best of all, I’m feeling better and I have more energy.

My name is Suzan. At the age of 72, I was 195 pounds.

Every day I wished something would change.

But I just couldn’t stop worrying. And that lead to snacking late at night.

My medical charts were not great either.

I felt tired all the time, couldn’t sleep well, and my joints hurt.

From walking to the bathroom to going up and downstairs… to parking the car and walking into a store… it all took an effort.

A few years ago, I took care of everyone in my family.

I had a loving husband. I raised 2 kids who blessed me with 4 grandchildren.

I spent my entire life providing for everyone. Life was good. But now they had to take care of me.

I started finding it hard to play with my grandkids and swing them around. I kept canceling swimming trips with them.

I even started worrying about the next time my family would visit.

When they did visit, I wore oversized clothes.

Next chapter of my life

Now I know that my life has only began.

A close friend of mine told me about a simple way to lose weight consistently — and fast.

It helped me turn my deteriorating health around. Not only did I drop weight and kept it off, but my weight loss was also without demotivating plateaus.

I now fit clothes I couldn’t fit for years and did it all without starving or depriving myself, counting calories, or feeling guilty around the foods I like.

Best of all, I’m feeling better and I have more energy.

My worn-out joints feel lubricated. I wake up feeling fantastic and can now stand straight and move with more grace and fluidity.

I still have a long way to go, but people could tell the difference from the first few weeks.

But before I tell you more about the solution my friend shared with me, I want to share 3 mistakes that stopped me from making any progress before.

I used to sabotage myself because I didn’t know any better. Now I believe I do.

Mistake #1: Following “new” popular diets

I kept following every “new” diet that got popular. Most of these diets recommended that I stopped eating certain types of foods, such as carbs.

But what I discovered was that your metabolism slows down drastically with age.

And all the popular diets out there followed a “one-size-fits-all” approach. They were not designed to cover my specific nutritional needs.

This caused nutritional imbalances, which caused cravings, which led to emotional eating.

I now know that a great way to ensure your body is getting everything it needs to thrive is a personalized, custom diet plan with professional guidance.

Mistake #2: Overrestricting myself

All this did was make me overindulge later. The truth is there are no “bad” foods when you eat in moderation. For example, one of my favorite foods is chocolate.

Anytime I went on a diet I’d try to stop eating chocolate altogether. But this made me crave it even more.

Which eventually lead to me eating the entire chocolate bar in one sitting.

Since I started the new program my friend shared with me, I’ve stopped fighting the foods I love. Not only has this been a Godsend for my mental health, but it’s also working great for my waistline.

After decades of back and forth diets, I’ve found the sweet middle ground between eating what I love and eating a healthy, balanced diet.

Mistake #3: Thinking weight gain is a part of aging

I was convinced that my lifestyle choices had done irreparable damage to my body. That it was simply too late to feel healthy and happy with how I look.

It’s possible to become healthier and lose weight in your 70s. You simply need the right tools.

It’s also important to know why you want to do it.

For me it was my decreasing health. I wanted to get back on track and have more energy, so I could spend more time with my grandkids and the rest of the family.

Trust the process and believe in yourself. It’s possible to lose weight, you can enjoy the foods you like and you can become healthier.

A way to do that is to try a new routine that’s designed specifically for you and your nutritional needs.

My weight is 195 ponds. Its hard for me to loose weight. I do exercise and try to control my diet but its hard. I feel hungry all the time. My weight is up and down. I want to know how did you loose weight

My blood pressure was very high too and now it is normal…in fact all my tests are now normal. I refused to take the doctor’s prescription drugs as There are too many side effects do I chose to hot natural.
I was a type 2 diabetic and my blood sugar is normal….no meds. I took flushing niacin, vitamin C,D, and zinc and a few other supplements that I needed. I dropped all sugar, starches and carbs from my diet. I feel great, look great and my self esteem is what it should be. I really don’t exercise much, but I love to walk and do stretches. Sometimes I cheat a bit, but that is okay now that I have reached my goal weight. You don’t need a specialized diet to lose weight….just drop the carbs and sugar and determination sure helps.

      2. As someone who is closer to 80 than to 75, I never had a problem with weight — or general fitness for that matter, as the two go together.
Yet in much of the world the problem is getting worse. The solution therefore has to be that is in reach of ANY person anywhere.
Food and rest and activity/play were never meant to be given too much thought. See children? When they are fed ordinary food and allowed to explore around and play they develop into fairly healthy and strong bodies.
As adults, when we eat more than we need or rest more than is good for us, then what is mostly the cause is losing the Reason to LIKE life as we did when we were children. For this we need a purpose in life that would want us to devote every hour of our life in activities that give us satisfaction to have worked toward that goal that will make you WANT to have energy to use for your life direction. THIS, my friend, is the key, the secret, that we gloss over when people ask those of us in shape ‘so how you keep yourself in shape?’
It snowed yesterday in Toronto. In my evening walk long after sunset, I gobbled the fallen snow resting on branches and felt the peculiar cracking sound beneath my feet. Your body moves unbidden, and it’s happy to eat simple whole foods mostly plants.
        Wishing you good health!

      3. Also exercise get up and move as much as possible. Eat less and eat less carbs and sugar. But strength train every day.

    2. 75 Hit the gym sometimes twice a day! Started lite weights slowly increased weights and reps! Was 215 now 178 ! Determination is the key! Feel 50% better! Excess skin is a eye sore though!
