Take a 1-Minute Quiz for a Personalized Fasting Plan!
Is it possible to eat whatever, not watch calories, and melt away stubborn fat from the comfort of your home without doing strenuous exercises at the gym?
What to do in cases of “stubborn” fat?
According to health and wellness experts, intermittent fasting is one of the best solutions for transformation.
You can have it all. Intermittent fasting allows you to enjoy delicious meals and helps you lose weight and feel energized at the same time.
One of the main reasons so many people fail intermittent fasting is that they start by longer than necessary fasting windows or cutting food groups, which shocks the body.
Keep reading if you want a smooth transition to intermittent fasting, lose fat, and keep it off the healthy way.
What you’re about to read are 5 mistakes to avoid to be successful on your intermittent fasting journey.
Surely you’ve heard of the stories: intermittent fasting melts pounds of fat, changing how people look entirely… If it’s done right.
Thousands of men and women worldwide have used this eating strategy. It’s proven, and the results speak for themselves. People lose flabby arms, fat on thighs, and stubborn belly fat too.
But before you get too excited, be careful.
According to health and wellness expert Dr. Alexander H. Blackwell, “Intermittent fasting is a very knowledge-based diet. Rushing in without a plan is short-sighted as it will most likely fail,” he says.
If you rush to intermittent fasting without a plan, here’s what you can expect:
Instead, Dr. Blackwell recommends a professional, custom intermittent fasting plan based on your age, eating preferences, and other criteria.
“Look for support and ideas on how to manage intermittent fasting correctly,” he says. “Your health is the number one priority. Take care of yourself, and you will start seeing the benefits in the nearest future.”
After starting intermittent fasting, you might feel tired.
Your body is not used to going long periods without food. YET. Think of your stomach as something that needs to be trained.
At first, fasting might feel challenging, but over time, your body will become more comfortable operating with less food.
There is, however, an early side effect that comes with intermittent fasting – fatigue. The actual reason behind this might be not consuming enough vitamin B.
“B vitamins are mostly found in whole grains,” explains Blackwell. “Lacking them can make you feel tired, lower your energy levels, and slow down your weight loss progress.”
Fortunately, you can still get plenty of B vitamins from correctly balanced foods. You just need to eat food aligned with a fasting lifestyle.
There’s a lot of fiber in fruits and whole grains. But the issue is that only a few people consume enough of these products.
So you need to be extra conscious to get a nice amount of fiber during your eating window.
Dr. Blackwell states, “Fiber is essential to help regulate digestion, hunger, and fullness cues. It helps provide long-lasting energy and a steady blood glucose level.”
In other words, fiber is critical. If you don’t eat enough, you may feel hungry, break your fast, and ruin your hard work.
The recommended approach is to eat more whole grains and vegetables. All kinds are great.
Don’t like eating vegetables all the time? Consider trying fiber supplements to refresh your body.
Leptin is a powerful fat-controlling hormone.
It sends a signal to your brain that says, “you’re full,” so you know when to stop eating. It diminishes hunger pangs naturally. If your body produces leptin properly, your appetite will stay in check.
But when your body produces too much leptin, your brain stops receiving the signal. So you don’t feel full easily, which causes overeating and eventually excessive weight gain.
How to avoid that? Fix the underlying root causes of leptin resistance:
One of the many benefits of intermittent fasting is that it can help fix leptin resistance: “Fasting helps reduce the inflammation that causes leptin resistance and resets leptin receptors, encouraging weight loss.”
With a bit of light research on Google, you’ll find thousands of intermittent fasting weight loss transformations. The proof is everywhere, and it’s easy to get excited.
Many people read a few articles, note a few intermittent fasting-friendly recipes, then try to get started on their own.
But this is a mistake. Just knowing you need to restrict your eating time is not enough. Often, the meals and fasting protocols you find online are good separately yet may cause nutritional imbalances when combined.
Don’t start intermittent fasting without help, especially if you don’t know the answers to questions like:
How can you find the correct answers to these questions and learn to achieve your weight goals successfully?
“If you’ve tried any other diet before but never did fasting, you should be pleasantly surprised,” says Dr. Blackwell.
“With a personalized fasting plan that considers your age, physical shape, and lifestyle preferences, people lose 10, 20, and more pounds. And that is without food restrictions or strenuous exercise.
That’s what I see all the time.
I suggest completing a short but very informative quiz to take the guesswork out of your weight loss and intermittent fasting (link below).
In less than 2 minutes, you can get a personalized intermittent fasting guide app, including meal plans perfectly aligned with the fasting lifestyle and created by professional nutritionists.
With such a plan alongside weight loss, you’re likely to experience other benefits of fasting: increased metabolism and energy, little to no food cravings, and better mood.”

I read the book Fast Like A Girl. It’s awesome. Hormones in women play such a part and you can actually adjust your fasting lengths throughout the month.

I began fasting 4 months ago, 16/8 and have so far lost 43lbs. Still have 30 more to go but steadily working on it. I feel so much better.

You recommend to eat fiber during a fast… Brilliant.
I did intermittent fasting and walking for six months and lost approximately 20kg but battled with the last 3kg to get to my normal weight. I would love to go back on it as I have gained 3kgs since then and would like to loose the 6kgs for good.
This is mostly because I feel good and healthy!
I am interested to know more about intermitermided fasting l need to have self discipline and confidence that l can loose weight through fasting l need this
Very interesting and worth trying
I’m on my 3rd week and down 6lbs. What I’m loving is the decreased in inflammation. My hips feel about 30% better now.

Thanks

I am now at my 30 something size and have the energy and stamina of someone at least 25 years younger. I work out 4-5 days a week, walk at least 10,000 steps daily and eat just about anything I want. IF certainly worked for me!
I have just started IF for about a month, I have been eating lower carb for a year now as well, I only have around 10lb to lose mostly belly fat.
Did it 2 years ago. Lost 50 lbs in 3 months. Have kept it off. Still have IF in my life. Don’t eat like I use to. Still doing IF to maintain my loss but not everyday. My stomach has remained small, helps with not overeating. It’s the only thing that I have ever been able to do and keep the weight off.
Looking forward to learning more.

Thak you for this article, it’s informative and helpful to me.
Iam 78 and need to lose weight in a healthy way. I look forward to beginning.
I’ve been fasting 16/8 for a month and haven’t lost a single pound. I feel I’m doing everything right. I do put a tad of Splenda in my coffee in the morning, because I read it won’t break a fast? Could that be why I’m not losing? I only need to lose around 10 pounds.
I’m almost 2 weeks in and down 9 pounds so far. My hunger has decreased and I feel great. 16:8 works for me.
Been doing this for a month
I’ve lost 66 lbs since last May. I started IF last Sept. I reversed my diabetes!
Is there a plan where one is allowed to have cheat days? Has anyone ever tried 5/7 fasting days?
I’ve been doing this on my own for years before this became a thing, because I felt better. Never did like that over full feeling, or eating too late because I’m early to bed early to rise. Eat breakfast around 8 or 9am and eat between then and 3 or 4pm. I’m 5’7″ and weigh 133, sometimes a little less sometimes a little more....

I have been on the 16/8 plan for 2 1/2 weeks and down 9 lbs so far but also keeping carbs down and calories under 1200 a day. Still, at 59 years, losing the weight. Only 75 lbs to go.
I have a rotating schedule that wreaks havoc on my body…but with a 16:8 model primarily while I’m on nigh shift I’m losing weight, shrinking clothing sizes, and gaining energy with minimal effort. I know that will likely change as my body adapts but I finally feel like there’s hope
I have autoimmune issues, on meds that have caused me too gain 50 pounds. Im miserable. Im in same boat with joint pain, I have Neuropathy too. Any other suggestions, dud you drink wine or alcohol?
Does it matter when your eating window is? With my schedule, 2pm to 10pm or 3pm to 11pm works best for me.
I eat in only a one hour window and eat only a VERY big salad with 6-10 Oz of protein and a healthy fatty dressing. I’ve lost 100# in 18 months. I eat about 3:30 or 4 pm. Rarely I do an extended fast.
I do 16:8 I eat between 12pm and 8pm I try to wait till 12.30 and stop at 7pm sometimes. I exercise daily. This has been very positive
Can a person with diabetes use your plan?

I’ve been doing low carb since Christmas and have done well but I wanted to speed up the weight loss with IF for my son’s wedding in March. Started just a few days ago but I can already tell a huge difference!
The 16:8 is working great for me,so far! I recommend exercise in addition because of the added benefits.

I thought it was all the physical exertion, but after reading about intermittent fasting, I realized it was the eating schedule along with the physical. Hello there. We are delighted that you are interested in intermittent fasting!
Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting. In other words, it’s a periodic energy condition that accelerates weight loss and leads to various health benefits, such as reduced inflammation, regulated blood sugar and cholesterol levels, improved brain health, and many others. Therefore, you can practice Intermittent Fasting until you reach your desired weight loss goals or continue it for the rest of your life for the health benefits.
For example, the most popular type of fasting is 16:8, which means eating during an 8-hour window and restraining from food for the remaining 16 hours daily.
With the DoFasting app, you can choose a fasting method that fits your lifestyle best, learn to prepare healthy meals, and implement simple workouts into your daily routine. You can find more information about intermittent fasting on the DoFasting website at app.dofasting.com.

Taking well balanced electrolytes has helped me with my 20:4 fasts and extended day fasts. I use the Reset daytime energy and sleep capsules (cause good sleep is so very important)! They help me fast longer without any fasting issues.

My issue is the out of control snacking in the evenings. I no longer eat ice cream, cake, cookies, etc. I drink about 64 ounces of water/coffee/herbal tea during the day.
I have a regular breakfast between 7am and 12, then a regular dinner between 4 p.m and 7 pm. I drink about 67 ounces of water a day. I am losing about 4 pounds a week. I have started including stationery bike and Sit and Be Fit exercise videos.
I’m roughly 3 1/2 months into this intermittent fasting plan 20/4. I’ve lost 47.5 lbs. It does WORK, I feel Incredible!!!
Any suggestions as I just started doing 12-8. Have only lost 4lbs for the last 4 weeks. I know I must be doing something wrong.
Hang in there. Took me 6 weeks to become fat adapted. After that I started losing weight.
I’m 68 yrs old and need to drop 75 to 100 pounds. I am on a fixed income so I’m afraid to go any further looking into this because I don’t know how much it cost. Had a friend drop 50 quickly do this. Does the quite cost a lot ?!

Try changing your eating window to (3-7)
I have been doing 20/4 eating window 5:00 to 9:00 for 9 months now and I have lost 41 pounds but I have hit a plateau and not quite sure what to do.
I would like to start this
Try changing your eating window to (3-7)
Signing up for more information.
Been doing this for 6 months and very doable I’m 80 year old female, was 70 pounds overweight and have lost
40 pounds and my bloodwork and blood pressure have improved. My walking, arthritis and mental condition have also improved. I have been on diets all my life and find this best I’ve ever done👍

Want to do this fasting
Very good points. Electrolytes are also very important when fasting. I just did a 72hr fast taking the Reset electrolyte fasting capsules which have methylated b/vitamins and green tea leaf extracts for energy.
Thank you
Can I drink coffee on fasting
Yes you can drink coffee tea without sugar n creamer. It’s basically any drink without any calories. This was the toughest part for me. But I made it and you can too
That is the hardest part for me, drinking black coffee. Also I’ve never been an early dinner eater, so that too gives me problems.
It’s customizable. Adjust your eating window so you can eat dinner later. I do 10 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. You could for example, do noon – 8:00 p.m.
No food or drink with calories during fasting hours you drink water during fasting hours
Very interested
I can’t wait I am trying this now so wish me luck
I started about three weeks after some extensive research and it has been a game changer. Is it easy? No! but well worth it.

I eat from 11am-7pm. I drink lots of water. That’s it.
Foods I can eat in my eating window
Thanks
I would like to learn more
I would like to loose alot of weight
Thanks
I checked out the do fasting app and did the quiz. I got a plan and found out how long it’ll take to reach my goal. It’s pretty cool. Good luck!
This is the only thing that has worked for me. I eat food from 4:00-8:00pm everyday. Water, crystal lite, and coffee in between. I’m not hungry, and I’ve lost 50 lbs so far. Download this app. I can’t exercise much (severe joint pain), but IF works. Love it.
Hello Darrel. I know everyone is different. But, I’m curious to know, what does your eating regimen look like? Do you restrict yourself to certain foods, etc.?
Do you only eat from 4pm to 8pm
So you only eat food 4-8:00! How is that healthy? Do you eat breakfast?
Thanks
That’s 20 hrs fasting??
I’ve been on 16 – 8 for 3 yrs but need to give it push to lose 5 kgs
My son is overweight and diabetic. Fiber in whole grains and fruits, don’t they also have carbs & sugars he should avoid?
Is fasting an option when he is told to eat periodically to keep his insulin levels stable?
Going to give it a shot
Just wanted you to consider dropping the Crystal light and drinking water with lemon and stevia instead. The sweetener in Crystal light causes me to have bad joint pain!
Can there be cream in the coffee while fasting?
How long did it take you to lose the 50? Good job BTW
I put cream in my coffee once the eating window opens. Black coffee or tea before that.
For the tea, which kind? Can all the fancy herbal teas be taken?
No cream. It only takes 35 calories to break a fast.
I’m so interested in this wanting to get started. So glad I read your healthinsider news.
I’ve lost 3st in under a Yr I fast from 7 or 8 until 12.30 or 1 depending on my lunch break. I love it nothing has ever worked for me but this has did wonders for me
I appreciate your help.
16:8 has worked for me in a sustainable way. Minus holidays and a couple night out with friends or date night with my SO, keeping my “eating window” closed after 7PM has 100% eradicated my big issue which is snacking mindlessly while watching TV after work and dinner.

I am considering this at the moment
