What My Experience in Hair Care Products Has Taught Me Throughout My Career

Are you recommending this because they’re paying you, or do you actually trust this product?

This wasn’t the first time one of my clients had asked me this question.

Many times before, I have stood in silence, frantically trying to figure out what to say without blatantly lying.

I knew the haircare I was recommending wasn’t going to make their hair feel better, nor was I happy with them using it.

The label “professional” on the packaging was only there to justify the price tag – as an actual professional, I would have never wished it upon anyone’s scalp.

But I was young and working for hair salons that had strict contracts with brands and suppliers. I wasn’t allowed to point them towards anything else.

Now, I’m happy to be working at a responsible hair salon that lets me recommend the haircare I truly trust in. And there’s one brand I love in particular.

Is it the one you’re using?

Some people’s hair care routine might be doing them more harm than good

Hair is a massive industry, with huge advertising spends and expensive brand deals with hair salons and beauty schools. L’Oreal alone spent over 10 BILLION dollars on advertising and promotions in 2020.1

Brands pay big money for eye-level shelf space in stores and have contracts with most beauty salons and stores. That’s how they get recommended to well-meaning customers.

These deals often come at the cost of quality to generate the most sales for companies that have the most spending power.

But at the end of the day, what matters is what your hair looks and feels like.

I’m Jennifer, and I’ve been a hairstylist for almost 20 years.

Hair stylist

Professionally and in my spare time, I love to test out different hair care products. I enjoy keeping up with the trends of different hair looks, and I pride myself on being able to figure out the best hair care routines.

Women’s hair is my ultimate passion. I believe hair is every woman’s greatest asset – and dull hair is a tell-tale sign of something wrong in their lives.

I’ve taken care of women whose entire lives changed after experiencing newfound confidence in having healthy, gorgeous hair. New partners, career shifts – I can attribute a lot of the success some of the women I know have achieved to how they felt after they stood up from my chair.

I’ve also had women come to me as a last resort. The horror stories I’ve heard about treatments and products that, in best cases, made no difference at all and made them lose some of their hair in worst cases…

One of my clients started seeing me after she used a hair straightening treatment that retails at $89.99 – her naturally thick dark hair had become thin and brittle. She was terrified of brushing it. Every time she would, the ends would start breaking off. So she just let it matt up instead. She felt defeated – the more she tried to fix it, the worse it got. She’s now glad she found me – I had just the right mask to repair the damage and growth serum to make up for the ends we had to trim!

After all, most of us just want strong, long, luscious, shiny, eye-catching locks.

And, of course, it’s extremely easy to get lost in the confusing world of hair

There are flashy influencers recommending the newest product on the market, tons of contradicting advice on the internet, confusing labels. And there are stylists and sales assistants pushing everything they can for commission.

I’ve even felt like I don’t know who to trust anymore. And I’m IN the industry!

And most products, no matter what they say, don’t even try to make your hair better. What they do is they make your hair dependent on the harmful ingredients in their complicated formulas, so you keep going back. And when that’s not enough, they make you switch to even stronger, more expensive products. And you stay in that cycle until your hair is so damaged that there’s no way going back.

So I’ve done a lot of research. I’ve read a lot of labels. I tried brand after brand until I found one I could get behind.

I found it hard to find products that were paraben-free, silicone-free, sulfate-free, GMO-free, DMDM-free, artificial fragrance-free, color-free, cruelty-free – all in one bottle!

But the research and testing process made sense to me, no matter how long it took.

At one point, I started telling my clients about the products I really liked. I would drop it in casual conversation. Under the radar.

If my employers had known, they would have let me go in a heartbeat!

I knew I was missing out on commissions because I was doing this.

Then my coworkers started noticing the difference in my clients’ hair. When you’re in the industry for long enough, you can spot unusually healthy hair at a glance.

I would tell them, and they would start using the products themselves. But of course, most of them kept the profits that came from commissions.

There came a point when I couldn’t deal with this anymore. Not because I was jealous that they were pocketing the money that came from selling something they know is bad for you. It was because what I really cared about was HAIR.

So I found a salon that wasn’t tied to brand deals, where I could finally preach the names of hair care products I trust in.

I have a trusted base of clients that keep referring me to so many people, I don’t even have enough time to fit them all in!

And the brand that helped me get there is Moérie

I’ve tried out their entire range, and the benefits I’ve seen were astounding.

A lot of my new clients came to me with hair that was very damaged, breaking. Some of them were even losing hair!

Moerie products

Moérie has helped them deal with these issues:

  • It promotes hair growth, making the hair longer and thicker.
  • It prevents hair loss.
  • It cleans the scalp from all the build-up – no more oiliness or dandruff!
  • It restores damaged hair follicles – this is especially important for those who have damaged their hair with heat or chemicals.
  • It prevents shedding and dandruff, moisturizing the scalp.
  • It adds shine and softness for that luscious, healthy look.
  • And it leaves the hair smelling like oranges, which pairs well with the perfumes my clients are using!

It uses betaine, caffeine, arginine, fulvic acid, biotin, and coconut oil.

Betaine is an anti-static and hair conditioning product. It protects the proteins in the hair from heat, which makes drying, straightening, and curling significantly less damaging.

Arginine is one of the most important amino acids in keratin. It strengthens the hair, decreases hair breakage, minimizes hair loss, moisturizes, and helps protect the hair from the damaging effects of bleaching.

Fulvic acid detoxifies the scalp, improves nutrient absorption, and is said to better deliver keratin to hair. It’s also one of the most important preventative substances for hair loss caused by alopecia.

Biotin stimulates keratin production in hair and can increase the rate of follicle growth. It increases the quantity of hair, making it look denser.

Coconut oil provides moisture for the hair, helping to tame frizz and prevent breakage.

These ingredients are responsible for the healthiness, shine, and moisture in the hair.

It even supplies all the necessary minerals, vitamins, and amino acids.

And it’s not a dupe! They’re not trying to mimic any of the “professional” or expensive brands – they have their own formulas, which I’m proud to recommend!

Since I already have a loyal and satisfied client base, I want to spread the word about Moérie further.

Now you, too, can have the hair you’ve always dreamed of, without the sneaky consequences of damaging ingredients!

I’ve been using Moerie for over a year now and it has done wonders for my hair. My hair used to be so frizzy and I would get dandruff but all those issues have cleared up now. I recommend it to all of my friends now.

As a fellow hair stylist myself, I am so aware of all the nasty things in the industry. I’ve turned down so many jobs just because of the brands the salons were partnering with. Kudos to you for standing up to them! No commissions will ever be more important than my clients’ hair

OMG I’ve only recently started looking at the labels of the products I’ve been using and LET ME TELL YOU I’ve donated or thrown most of them away. I’ve been looking for a new set to refresh my hair, and I’m exciting to try Moerie!
