Another randomized controlled trial from 2015 showed that the amount of fat burned per minute was actually 228.6% higher when following a keto diet, compared to a low-fat diet. 4
But despite its worldwide success and clinically proven efficiency, some people say keto is simply “not for them”.
And when asked why keto didn’t work for them, the same answers keep coming back: “I never know what to eat”, “overwhelming amount of information”, or “always eating the same meals”…
These answers were intriguing, so we sat down with a certified ketogenic diet specialist Lauren Weiss, Ph.D. to further explore why people can’t seem to stick to the otherwise brilliant diet.
The 3 Main Reasons Why Most People Fail To Lose Weight With Keto, According to a Nutrition Expert
Mistake #1: Eating Too Much Fat
“If you’re not losing weight on a ketogenic lifestyle, you’re eating too much fat, period” – starts Lauren.
Apparently, while keto is a delicious way to weight loss, many people jump in thinking that it’s as simple as loading up on fats. But it is not. To lose weight with keto without stalling, it’s important to monitor your fat intake.

“You’re working so hard to be in ketosis and then you’re out of ketosis on the weekend,” says Lauren. “You’re only in it for, like, two days a week, which makes no sense. That’s not the goal.”
