Personal Trainer Shares How She Helps Her Clients Become Fitter Without Losing Motivation

My name is Laura Braziulyte, and I’ve been a personal trainer for nearly 5 years now.

Most of my clients are women, and I take great pride in helping them get back into shape and increase their quality of life.

But that hasn’t always been the case.

As much as I had worked with traditional methods before, they seemed to be effective only for less than 9% of gym members.

From my experience with thousands of women I’ve worked with, I found a reason why 91% of them fail and quit their fitness journey.

And it’s not what you might think…

As the pandemic took a toll on both my business and the progress of my clients, I realized it was time for me to find a new approach to get back on track

Honestly, seeing my clients fall off the weight-loss wagon one by one while sitting in lockdown, I felt like I had completely failed as a trainer. I had to find a way to get them motivated and moving again. 

I knew I had to come up with a new and innovative approach to get both me and my clients excited about working out again. As if inventing an entire strategy wasn’t challenging enough, I had to consider that most women would be working out at home, so treadmills and heavy weights were probably out of the question. 

I spent months going through online workout classes and various at-home training routines, hoping to come up with the ultimate workout program to share with my clients.

Ironically, the answer to losing weight and getting in shape was waiting for me at a local bakery

First of all, if you assume all PTs are the healthiest people in the world and don’t have cheat days – you’re wrong. The difference is I prefer to call them treat days.

On one of those treat days, I was grabbing a donut to go when I saw my former client Elen walk in. Unlike most of my trainees, she seemed to be fitter and leaner than before the lockdown. I was so impressed, I even felt a bit bad about my glazed donut.

It goes without saying – I just had to ask what she’d been doing to achieve that body. 

Elen told me she owed her impeccable shape to an app called Fitter. Honestly – I had never heard of it before then. 

She was thrilled with the progress she’d made, so when I told her about trying to create a strategy to get the rest of my clients back on their weight loss game, she was adamant I should give Fitter a try. 

I was hesitant at first, as I had developed a strong distrust for fitness apps over the years. They tended to come with a one-size-fits-all solution, not taking into consideration any of the individual needs of the users.  

However, having Elen stand in front of me, looking like a poster child for this app, I decided to see where it goes. I didn’t have much to lose, but I did have something to gain – the trust and well-being of my clients. 

So I took the bait and downloaded the app.

My honest opinion about Fitter

The first thing that stood out to me was that, much like a personal trainer, the app provided its users with a personalized training program. So none of that one-size-fits-all nonsense.

What I was happy to see was that this app was designed specifically for women. There are many online fitness programs for men, but not so much for women.

What did raise my eyebrows initially was that the app stated that you’d only have to work out 10–30 minutes a day. I was used to hour-long sessions with my clients, but considering those didn’t take place on a daily basis, I was willing to give that approach a go.

The workouts were built on using one’s body weight, so luckily for me, it ticked the at-home no-equipment-needed box. And from a user’s perspective – no need to invest in expensive equipment or a gym membership.

So, it was time for me to try it out for myself.

I took the online quiz to get my personalized training plan based on my current lifestyle, age, weight, and goals, and in just a bit, my tailor-made training routine was created.

What the app is about

The personalized workout plan provides women with an easier and safer way to tone their bodies and helps them achieve weight loss goals. It includes exercise videos that show the best ways to exercise, avoid injuries, and make the most out of your training sessions.

As I mentioned, this fat-burning program does not require any equipment. All one has got to do is a quick 10–30-minute workout. By the way, you get to choose the duration of the workout, so the whole plan really does work with any lifestyle.

Other features included in the app:

  • Activity tracker to help you track your progress, time spent, completed workouts, and calories burned
  • Progress tracker and calendar to show you the progress you’ve made in terms of your weight and to help keep your motivation up
  • Step tracker, which can be synced with your phone to keep track of those steps you should be getting in and the calories you’ve burned during your walks
  • Water tracker to help you stay on top of your daily water intake (my clients said they noticed improved skin condition once they got the reminders to drink more water)

Women can even go for some additional workouts geared for specific body parts. For instance, it’s possible to only train your glutes or your core.

In case anyone is wondering what to serve on the side of the workout plan

As a PT, I know how vital the right diet is when it comes to losing weight. One has to find the perfect balance between effective workouts and a healthy meal plan.

Fitter’s meal plan gives you access to a ton of easy-to-make healthy recipes with comprehensive guides. And they barely take any time to whip up!

I’ve heard a lot of people complain about how expensive and difficult it is to eat healthily, so the fact that Fitter has put their meals together taking that into consideration is great. All of the necessary ingredients can easily be found at pretty much any local grocery store.

My verdict

I have to admit, Fitter proved me wrong and made me rethink fitness apps. 

After seeing how well it fit into my lifestyle, how easy it was to follow – it goes without saying I started recommending it to my clients. And honestly, the results they’ve been seeing have truly blown me away. 

I did have to reconsider my whole “hour-long workouts for maximum effect” approach, but seeing how much happier and healthier my clients have become, I know I’ve done right by both them and myself.

    I’m a new mom and I was looking for some ways to tone up my body after pregnancy and I stumbled upon this article when I was already following fitter program for 3 weeks. It helped me shred a few pounds off already and my energy level increased.
