Saying goodbye to your favorite foods is not the option. Starving is not the option. But you have to stop making these 3 major mistakes that hold so many seniors from believing they can lose weight.
Hello, my name is Lisa. I’m currently 71, and I’m in my best health and shape since my forties. However, just a few years ago, my doctors gave me a warning…
See, I was severely overweight. I always blamed it on my age. Seeing my friends in the same shape and hearing their health complaints made me think it’s a part of aging, and there’s nothing I can do.
However, it started to weigh on me… From walking in the grocery store to playing with my grandkids – I always had to stop and catch my breath.
I felt frustrated like I had taken my health for granted for so many years with all the junk food I ate, and now there was nothing I could do. My medical charts and the scales in the bathroom became my worst enemies.
You might think: “Why is this old lady complaining about it now? She brought it on herself.”
But I really wanted to write this because I eventually managed to turn my health around. And there was one thing that helped me more than anything else I have tried.
If my story helps more people like me, I want to tell it.
I have been dieting for the bigger part of my life. But I couldn’t stick to any of the diets for longer than a month because I felt restricted. And I would always bounce back to my old eating habits and regain all the weight I had lost. Always.
It took me so many years to realize that the main issue was me. I kept making the same 3 mistakes that stopped me from feeling healthier and happier.
Once I understood this and stopped making them, I started losing weight without problems. I made constant progress. Week after week. I hardly even noticed when 39 pounds disappeared for good.
My journey began the same day I saw my friend. You know, one of those friends I mentioned before. The one that looked like me.
But she looked different. Leaner, healthier, more radient. And she had a broad smile on her face.
Sarah claimed she found a weight loss protocol designed for seniors. She said it helped her lose weight consistently without a lot of effort.
I’m not going to lie, I was very skeptical about it. Everything she said sounded too good to be true. But then again, she was standing there looking amazing. Plus, she was a dear friend I trusted.
So I decided I would try it for a week. And I will stop if I don’t like it.
I was not prepared for what came next. Not only did I lose weight and keep it off, but I also never struggled. Never felt hungry. Never felt guilty for eating a “bad” meal.
Not to even mention my improved health. Even my doctor asked what happened – my cholesterol was finally within a normal range, my heart rate wasn’t over the roof anymore, and I felt more energized than ever.
I’m still not done with my journey, but I wish every person my age could experience this.
The joy and relief of knowing the best part of your life is not over yet… It’s only the beginning.
Do not worry, I will share the method my friend shared with me. But first, I want to briefly highlight the 3 main mistakes I made so you could learn from my experiences.
I always thought that for me to get leaner, I needed to follow a specific diet.
I would scout for them in the magazines and online forums, and every diet swore that it would not be difficult to follow. But almost every one of them asked to eliminate certain food groups, such as carbs.
It took me so many years to understand one simple truth – my metabolism is not nearly as fast as it was before. I needed way more healthy nutrients to keep my heart, joints, and brain healthy.
These fad diets were created for the masses. And they were most certainly not designed for someone my age.
I used to be deprived of certain nutrients, which caused me constant cravings, and I ended up indulging in even more unhealthy food.
I now understand that my body craved balanced meals created just for me.
I thought that years and years of slacking and a lousy diet had severely damaged my body and health. That it was simply too late for me.
But you can’t blame yourself for everything. Life is busy.
For most of my life, I worked very long hours, I raised two beautiful kids who required my attention 24/7, and our family changed houses 3 times until we settled down.
So many things in my life kept me from having a healthy routine. But it is natural and happens to everyone.
Now that I’m older and retired, I know I can have it all right. I could still fix my routine.
I want you to know that it’s possible to become healthier and lose weight.
You simply need a new routine designed specifically for you and your nutritional needs. Your plan has to be personalized. It took me so long to understand this.
I would have random episodes of self-pity and then decide I would only eat apples for a week. All because someone said they lost loads of weight this way.
All this did was make me lose control and indulge in all kinds of sweets and junk food later.
It might sound silly, but I now understand that for me to finally lose weight, I actually needed those “bad” foods too.
I would eliminate the foods I love whenever I would start a diet. But this only made me want them more. Basic human psychology, I know.
You can probably guess what happened next – I started eating even more, which would leave me feeling even worse than before. And that was my never-ending cycle.
But since I started the program my friend recommended, I no longer fight the foods I enjoy. I include them in my diet but never indulge in them again.
After all these years of fighting foods that I love, I finally found what works for me, without any restrictions.
The method that my friend shared with me and the thing that finally helped is called Perfect Body. I was given a personalized weight loss plan based on my age, weight, health history, and favorite foods.
All I had to do was answer a simple, free quiz.
Now, obviously, I didn’t just take a quiz and lose weight immediately. You still have to watch what you eat if you want to lose weight. It’s not magic…
Calories in, calories out. The basics might sound obvious, but they still apply. You have to eat under a certain number of calories to lose weight.
So, most of the weight loss comes down to what you eat, planning your meals, your recipes, and more.
But with Perfect Body (the company that creates personalized weight plans for you), all this became a breeze to me.
The app did everything for me (there’s also a web version that I use when I’m home). Things that frustrated me like tracking calories, planning meals, and looking up alternative meals – all done for me.
All I had to do was just follow the recipes (which included most of my favorite meals) the app gave me.
It sounded too good to be true, but like I said – a lot of weight loss comes down to the basics.
So, don’t look at it like just a weight loss journey.
It took me so long to realize that if you do it right, you can keep the weight off for good, continue eating your favorite meals, and start enjoying your favorite things like playing with your grandchildren.
I couldn’t keep up with my grandkids before. Now that I’m right behind them when they’re running, their smiles fill my heart with joy and make everything I went through worth it.
Now I’m more confident than I ever was.
I no longer look for a plan to change my weight because I have already found it. And I found it at the exact time I really needed it.
Thank you for your comment
I have been following the Perfect Body program for 2 months, and I love it. I can see my belly getting smaller.
I can never say no to some fast food. That’s why diets don’t work for me. I’m in my 60s now. Anyway, I’m thinking of trying the product, since you said I wouldn’t have to limit myself and that’s what I want.
Great read. Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your inspiring story. I struggle with motivation, but I suggested following this program together with my husband, and he agreed! We both got our individual weight loss plans. We even agreed to cook our first meal together in ages. Thanks for your help, and wish me luck!
