Ever had a bad hair day?
In the summer of 2018, I decided to shave my head clean a few months after giving birth to my second child.
I was exhausted, my hormones were acting up, and my hair had been thinning for some time now.
But when I actually started losing my hair, it felt like I was losing little pieces of me. It was too much.
So, after thinking about it for a few weeks, one day I woke up and decided it was time…
Now that I’ve managed to regain my thick, wavy hair — everyone is looking at me like I did the impossible.
I don’t blame them though! I WISH I had my current knowledge back then.
My confidence is back and I can now walk out of my house with a skip in my step. Showing off my hair to the world like I’m in a shampoo commercial.
But let’s make one thing clear: The journey wasn’t overnight.
And there is no magical shampoo that will restore all your hair either.
Today, I feel fortunate that I can share my story and help those going through a similar experience.
I went from loving my hair to hating what was on my head to loving it again. I hope you can learn from my experience and avoid the mistakes I made.
Why I shaved my head clean after trying everything
In 2018, my hair took a hard turn for the worse after I gave birth.
First, it was thinning. Which was surprising to see, but I’ve read postpartum hair loss is pretty common. So, I wasn’t too concerned.
But when more and more pieces of hair started coming out with my brush, I was starting to get paranoid.
Throughout the years, my hair had always played a major role in my identity. It was everything to me and I was not ready to let it go yet. I was just 33!
Now, I knew my way around haircare and I was proud of myself for taking care of my luscious hair in the past.
But going from thick and wavy straight hair to thinning strands of hair was discouraging to say the least.
My glossy hair was slowly being replaced by random bald spots that stood out like a sore thumb and there was nothing I could do about it!
I would spend up to an hour in front of the mirror, trying to cover up my spots with different volumizing mousses, different sprays, and other hair products that promised textures.
But nothing came out of it. It felt like I was losing my identity and my confidence had taken a hit…
Whenever I was going out of the house for simple errands, I was constantly focused on hiding my hair patches with headbands or hats.
This was when I realized how bad it had gotten. My own hair was giving me anxiety and prevented me from having fun in my day-to-day activities!
The damage was all the way up to my roots (not just my ends) and I felt lost and confused.
So, I decided that there was no point holding onto hair that was damaged…
Why shaving my head was the most important step in my hair journey
Shaving my head was emotional. It felt like I was giving up on my hair journey.
But after a while, things calmed down for a bit.
My life was relatively more stable and I was getting used to my shaved look. Though I was still wearing hats and headbands to cover certain spots on my head.
Every now and then, I would still catch myself staring into the mirror, wanting my old hair back.
Because deep down, I was embarrassed. I KNEW that getting my hair back would mean getting my confidence back. I was still earning for my long wavy hair that used to get me compliments regularly.
It wasn’t SO bad with the right headband and the right angle, I was trying to convince myself. Maybe if I could just find the right volumizing spray…
Clearly, I was not over it and I was NOT giving up on my hair journey just yet.
Around a year later, my hair was down to my shoulder-length again and I was cycling through different hair products trying to find the holy grail that would solve all my problems.
What I learned that made me lose hope in almost every convenience store shelf shampoo and made me rethink everything
It was around when I was rinsing coffee grounds out of my thin and oily strands of hairs in my bathroom sink that I thought there had to be a better way.
Now, at that point, I had tried a ton of different drug store shampoos and did a ton of research.
Most shampoo and hair products would just make my hair oily and greasy.
That’s because many drugstore shampoos contain heavy silicones and sulfates — which strip moisture from your hair and cause product build-up.
Silicon found in shampoo products is not water-soluble and causes build-up that weighs your hair down, diminishing any definition.
The ideal shampoo should be natural and provide a deep cleanse that washes away all the product build-up (read what worked for me below).
Like a plant, your hair absorbs nutrients through its roots and relies on a healthy home base for strong, steady growth.
For a plant, that’s fertile soil.
And for your hair — a clean, calm, debris-free scalp upon which your hair thrives.
So, you need to treat your hair the same way. From the ground up — focusing on your scalp and building the foundation that’s needed for hair growth.
Most hair products “just” wash your hair and focus on treating split ends.
No wonder my hair wasn’t getting any better — I wasn’t giving my scalp the proper nutrients that boost hair growth.
A consistent supply of key nutrients is one of the best ways to get stronger and healthier hair.
So, if your hair is damaged like mine was, you need shampoo that nourishes each individual hair from the follicle up.
The advice that changed my approach to my haircare
One day, when I was scouring through the internet reading about different hair products, I came across an NYTimes article, in which Norma Kamali was discussing her skincare and aging secrets.
In it, she mentioned two things that stood out to me.
First, she said that with shampooing — the secret is less is more.
I used to think the opposite. I thought using more shampoo would give my hair more nutrients to fight back against hair thinning and hair fall. This was not the case.
TThen, she also mentioned that she stopped blow-drying her hair and that she started using the Moérie Ultimate Mineral Hair Growth Serum Spray.
Her story really resonated with me, so I decided to investigate further.
I learned that the product she mentioned includes a unique blend of 77 minerals, 18 amino acids, and 5 vitamins. And it’s designed completely in tune with your natural hair growth cycle.
Before, I used to get overwhelmed reading all the hair care product ingredients online.
But now, after reading everything thoroughly, I could see why so many women were praising this product in the reviews.
Just under one month of using the Moérie spray — I was already seeing some results as my hair was getting all the nutrients it was lacking.
My hair had increased in length while becoming stronger and healthier. And while I didn’t think it was possible — my hair grew a few inches in 4 weeks, while restoring that silky smooth look I once had.
What makes Moérie different
To ensure your hair is getting all the right nutrients, Moérie uses all-natural ingredients — sourced from specific artisanal and wildcrafted providers.
In other words, your hair is treated with the most potent and effective nutrients available, which benefit hair restoration and growth specifically.
If any product is offering you immediate or overnight results — run for the hills.
The haircare industry is riddled with false claims and untrue advertising.
With Moérie, they claim that most of their customers experienced noticeable hair growth within 30 days — which was accurate in my case too.
After sticking with it for more than 3 months, my hair has stopped thinning and falling completely.
My bald spots are now replaced by textured hair with definition. And my friends who hadn’t seen me since shaving my head thought it had magically regrown like this on its own. If only it were that simple.
Now, my hair feels new and I’ve managed to regain my once lost confidence. I can even grow it past the awkward stage and walk out the door with my hair confidently fluttering behind me like my personal flag in the wind.
I no longer use headbands and I feel confident when taking pictures. I feel like I’ve reunited with a best friend I hadn’t seen in ages. And now, we’re inseparable.
All this, possible thanks to Moérie.
Is Moérie right for you?
In my haircare journey, I stopped taking advice from people with different hair types.
My girlfriends used to recommend all the different shampoos and conditioners. It was no surprise they didn’t work for MY specific hair type. Obviously, their hair was different!
Instead, I’ve learned that if you’re going to be getting hair tips — it better be from someone with the same hair type and experience.
And in my case — Moérie worked. It made a difference when all the other shampoos and hair sprays failed me.
If your hair situation is anything like mine — I’m confident it can help you too.
After one month, you’ll see an increase in hair length with stronger and healthier follicles.
In three months, your hair will show significant growth and feel like new.
During the whole process — your hair will be thanking you.
And when you catch a glimpse of your hair in the mirror, reflecting vibrantly back at you — you will be thanking yourself too.
