I’m Stacy, I’m 31 years old, and I’m finally feeling and looking my best. All while taking care of my baby.
But it wasn’t always like that. I have been struggling with my weight ever since I remember myself. Getting pregnant was just an addition to my already growing weight.
4 months postpartum, I weighed 211 pounds.
I was already very upset that day. My baby was constantly crying, I had a total of 3 hours of sleep in the past 24 hours, and I just didn’t feel good.
No comforting words from my husband helped. I was just sitting there on the bathroom floor feeling sorry for myself.
I was already struggling with breathing, I was also sweating like crazy just by holding my baby for more than 10 minutes.
I just felt way more tired than I should have been. And I knew all of that. I understood my risks.
But when it came to food… I would just go numb and forget all of my will to eat healthily or exercise.
I had takeouts almost every other day as I didn’t have any time to prepare meals, and my husband isn’t the best cook. I was getting anxious about when I would stop breastfeeding and would have to make food for my baby.
That’s how another 6 months passed. I always found excuses why I couldn’t work out or eat healthier meals.
My go-to excuse was my baby. But the truth is – I just didn’t know where to start. The whole “getting back to your old self” stuff annoyed me so much I couldn’t even open the new mommy blogs online.
They were all bragging, showing their flat bellies after pregnancies…
I know it’s bad, but I hated seeing them succeed. And meanwhile, there I was – just sitting there, covered in chocolate stains with my unwashed hair.
There was a before/after picture of this girl right in front of me. It was obvious she had lost quite a bit of weight. Not that type of chubby “before” picture and then all-abs, tanned, lean, younger-looking “after” we are used to seeing.
No, I noticed her because of her contagious smile in the “after” picture. And the post that she wrote. Oh my, I thought she was talking to me directly.
She started off by saying that her aim was never to be fit or sexy, or lean. She just wanted to be healthy and happy. For the sake of herself and her baby.
“Go on, spill your secret, I need this too…” I was thinking while reading it.
And here it was, right in front of me.
She simply explained how this app took so much work from her hands all while helping her regain her health and confidence after childbirth.
She said the main thing for her was the ability to work out with her baby because she didn’t have a nanny and just wanted to spend more time with her little one.
“Hey, I feel that way too!” I thought.
She mentioned that the app she uses is called fitMom.
It has a personalized meal and workout plan that changes every month, tips and guidance for new moms, food recommendations when breastfeeding, delicious recipes and so much more to make every new mom’s life easier.
I felt so understood after reading it and obviously, I wanted to see this positive change for myself.
I thanked her in the comments and started filling out the questionnaire to get my own workout plan.
I wanted something simple, something that would get my health back on track.
Something that would push me a bit harder every week…
And that’s what I got. Now, I can’t even remember how I started the program, but I know it wasn’t hard, I would remember the struggle.
I only had to do a 15-minute workout four times a week. I was a bit skeptical about what I could achieve in such a short amount of time. And even then, I was constantly looking for excuses not to do them.
But I knew I wanted to change. Plus, I knew there wouldn’t be anything easier than this.
Luckily, whenever I wanted to skip a workout, I would remind myself, “15 minutes later, you’ll be right back to what you were doing.” And it just kept me going. Day after day.
The workouts themselves are amazing. It’s a bit like having a personal trainer, only a hundred times less expensive.
All of my workouts consist of easy-to-follow, video-guided exercises. I don’t use any equipment for them either, so all I need to do is grab my yoga mat and do them.
If my son is not sleeping, I usually grab him too, it’s loads of fun for both of us!
But that’s not all…
I got my first visible results after one month. But the workouts are still, well, workouts.
You need to push yourself a bit further every time.
And that’s why the app is so great – once you are fully comfortable with a short 15 minutes of movement, they slowly suggest increasing the duration (of course, only if you want to, but I strongly suggest just trying).
Your body is stronger than you think. If I manage to do a full 45 minutes of exercises now, so can you.
Another thing to remember is that diet plays a crucial role in your health, and just exercising won’t cut it.
Luckily, fitMom also had a personalized meal plan prepared just for me, based on the foods I like.
I slowly learned how to cook easy, healthy meals. I really enjoy them, my husband enjoys them. Some of the ingredients I even use to cook for my little one at the same time too!
Honestly, cooking was even harder for me than working out, but I did it! Can’t believe how many nourishing meals I have missed when spending money on all that junk food.
When I combined these two – healthy eating and working out – something even greater happened.
I felt happier and stronger. Way stronger. I had energy! This allowed me to push a bit harder every time.
After 6 months of following the program, I feel like a brand new person. I love myself more, I have more energy to take care of my little one, I have more time with my husband…
27 pounds that I lost feel amazing, but that’s just a number. I will keep pushing further.
The best part of it all – I’m actually healthier. My sleep quality is better, and I wake up energized.
I went to see a doctor last week for a general checkup, and the results were pleasantly shocking.
My cholesterol is finally within a normal range, my blood pressure has stabilized. Also, my blood glucose is way lower now.
I finally feel like a healthy 31-year-old woman who’s just starting her life with her family.
Ever since I started using the app, I have saved so much money.
I don’t need to buy gym memberships (I used to buy them but never go anyway). I cook at home. A nice restaurant once a month is now a nice treat for my husband and me. It feels like we have earned that one nice evening going out.
I’m not planning on quitting any time soon. I still have so much to achieve with this program.
The reason why I believe I finally saw results with this program is that EVERYTHING is personalized.
There is a quiz you have to fill in prior to accessing your plan. You type in your height, weight, fitness level, target areas, and food preferences…
And while my main focus was on my health, I also didn’t like my arms, they were very flabby. After choosing this problem area, I noticed there were some specific workouts focused on toning up my arms, which I loved.
Clever, simple questions like this allow the fitMom program to make a custom plan just for you.
And I can’t recommend it enough to all the new moms who are going through this difficult period of time.
You are all superheroes, but don’t forget that you need to take care of yourself too.
Try it out, and let me know if this will help you as much as it helped me.
Thank you for your comment
You go, Stacy! Thanks for sharing and continuing to help others as the other girl helped you. So grateful for women helping women. I’m a new mom and I was looking for a way to get fitter too. Just filled out the quiz and can’t wait to try out my plan!
Agree on the money saving bit, I tried a personal trainer before but they are super expensive and I don;t have time to go to the gym when looking after my baby. Will try these out!
I have been doing their workouts for a couple of weeks now and I feel great. I tweak the recipes a little bit just because my partner is a picky eater haha, but overall, I’m very happy with the app too.
