He got hit on again in front of me during a party we were attending. 

That skinny chick giggled as she touched my husband. Suddenly… all I could see was RED.

And we were wearing very obvious couple costumes – I was just so sick of it. 

My husband navigated the situations well time and time again, always putting me first and making sure I was comfortable and okay. 

But this wasn’t about him; it was about me. 

Hi, I’m Sara. 

Obesity has played a major role in my life’s journey. 

My Obese Life…

At this moment, a few years ago, I was roughly 380 pounds. 

I couldn’t walk more than half a mile without needing a break. 

I wasn’t confident in myself, and having a hot husband also didn’t help with my insecurities. 

My weight spiraled out of control once I got into college and started working full time. 

Having a car and money and being addicted to food is not a great combo. 

My weight severely hampered my social life. 

I hated going to public places, never been to a roller coaster, never swam at a beach, the list goes on and on.

Most of my days would consist of: waking up, eating, going out to work, eating at work, eating some more, binge-watching TV, and then eating again. 

And by the time I graduated from college, I was BIG! 

Years went by, but my weight and health were still in an awful place.

I was lucky to find the love of my life – a loving and super handsome husband – during one of my difficult times. But my self-esteem issues didn’t stop rising. Quite the opposite – things got much worse. 

The stress of a newly married life, buying a new house, had forced me to put on more weight. 

After the birth of our first child, I was dealing with uncontrolled insulin levels. The more insulin I took, the more weight I gained, and I became more tired. 

I’ll never forget when my sister visited me on my 37th birthday. She was surprised to see how bloated I was. I guessed she figured I was having problems. 

Worried, she kept asking me what was wrong and if I was happy. I told her I was.

I had denied my sister the chance to help me because I didn’t want to be anyone’s liability.

Our kids got a bit older, so my husband and I started going out again. Oh, I’ve waited so long for that!

If only I knew back then that those dates would make me feel worse than ever…

Every time we went out, no matter where: to the restaurant, bar, or theater, my husband would always get hit on by some beautiful and lean girls. 

He’s a great guy and never let them go too far, constantly introducing me as his wonderful and beloved wife. 

But the way those girls always looked at me after that… I wanted to bury my head in the sand and disappear. 

I knew I needed to find a permanent solution to beat my obesity. 

I wanted to feel good about my body, love myself, and feel worthy of love.

Heck, I wanted to feel worthy of my hot husband. 

And just for once, I wanted to be hit on. Not my husband. 

I couldn’t afford a personal fitness trainer because of my finances.

After months of struggle, I lost most of my hope to lose weight and was about to give up…

On another date night with my husband, I met an old friend at the bar who called out my name.

I was surprised to see how different she was looking. And I guess she was surprised to see how I was looking too. 

We talked about old times. Our old friends and families.
