How People Over 40 Are Losing Weight With Running, Even if They Had Failed Before

I look pretty, don’t I? I think so.

What if I told you that about 12 months ago, I couldn’t allow anyone to take a photo of me?

I sucked in my stomach every time I saw a camera and then picked out the areas that needed improvement.

If any of that sounds familiar,  then take out some time to read this.

And, by the time you finish this article, it will help you take charge of your weight, your mind, and your happiness.

Hi, I’m Sara.

Obesity has played a major role in my life’s journey.

My Obese Life…

When I turned 17, I became obese.

I was put on some weight-loss, “low-carb diet” program.

I lost so much weight…

But I became anorexic. I had a distorted body image. I became obsessed with my weight, and I was scared of gaining weight again. Because of my frustration, I decided to switch to a low-calorie diet.

When I could, I would over-exercise and get exhausted.

I often got dizzy. And I had a frequent cold.

I was becoming pissed off with myself and with every little thing around me. I became distracted, and I was unable to concentrate – even on my studies.

In short, I felt like I was crawling inside myself…

Constantly thinking about food and ways to eat less just left me perpetually hungry and deprived.

I lost all strength to attempt doing any exercise.

That was a terrible and demotivating way to live life.

When I found I couldn’t maintain it, I resorted to eating food again – but I went the opposite spectrum as a result.

And by the time I graduated from college, I was BIG!

Years went by, but my weight and health were still in a very bad place.

I was lucky to find the love of my life during one of my difficult times, but my self-esteem issues didn’t stop rising.

The stress of a newly married life, buying a new house, and running a business together with my ill husband, had forced me to put on more weight.

Two years into our marriage, I was 6 months pregnant with our first child. Most nights, I kept having shortness of breath.

I realized I needed to do something, so I visited a doctor. And I was given insulin shots.

After the birth of our first child, I was dealing with uncontrolled insulin levels. The more insulin I took, the more weight I gained, and the more tired I became.

I couldn’t do any exercise but was too hungry to avoid food.

I’ll never forget when my sister came to visit me on my 37th birthday. She was surprised to see how bloated I was. I guessed she figured I was having problems.

Worried, she kept asking me what was wrong and if I was happy. I told her I was.

And when she tried to probe further, I became defensive…

BUT, her visit made me realize that I was eating to cover up the pain of a stressful marriage for so many years. I was obese and thought I would never be anything else.

A Point of No Return…

I had denied my sister the chance to help me because I didn’t want to be anyone’s liability.

I had to figure things out for myself.

My husband got better and took full charge of the business. That made things much easier for me. I had a little more time at home with my kid and for myself.

I needed to find a permanent solution to beat my obesity.

I couldn’t afford a personal fitness trainer because of my finances.

All I wanted was to have an affordable plan that could fit my lifestyle.

I didn’t know what to do, but I knew there must be a solution somewhere. I read a lot of books on dieting and watched tons of videos.

I tried following them, but they seemed too stressful for me as they’d result in me binging all of my favorite foods and feeling horrible about myself.

I was always on the sidelines watching everyone else having fun while I was getting out of breath only after walking half a mile.

And all I wanted to do was play with my kid without getting tired and out of breath.

After months of struggle, I lost most of my hope to lose weight and was about to give up…

A Moment of Truth

A few days later, I met an old friend at the mall who called out my name.

I was surprised to see how different she was looking. And I guess she was surprised to see how I was looking too.

We talked about old times. Our old friends and families.

I made a playful comment about her good looks, and then she told me about her own weight struggles and how she overcame them by using an app.

The more she talked about her struggles, the more I could relate. I had given up and accepted my fate, but she didn’t. “What about this app?” I managed to ask.

Then she began to tell me about this Joggo app. She talked about the app being customizable, how it creates meal and running plans just for you, gives feedback, and all that stuff.

I really admired the new confidence exuded by my friend, but deep down, it all sounded like the same old story I had heard a thousand times before, and I wasn’t sold.

So I just kept trying to lose weight on my own. I have added exercise to my routine, working out around 3 days a week following 30–40min videos from Youtube. Also tried new diets, including starvation.

I was hoping to lose at least some weight, even a few inches at the time was enough for me, but nothing worked.

The more I thought about my friend, the more willing I became to try her recommended Joggo app. And one day, I decided to give it a shot.

Signing up for Joggo was very simple. First, I had to fill out a quick quiz that asked me about my current fitness level, height, weight, lifestyle, and goals.

I also decided to go for the custom meal plan to keep myself accountable and take out the guessing game from figuring out what I can and cannot eat.

While I explored it, I was amazed to find that the app came with many features that were designed to help me lose weight and regain my fitness.

Lost Weight. Confidence Gained…

After the first two weeks of my exercise routine with the app, I logged on and filled the feedback form.

It was so easy for me to upscale my exercises with a more difficult task.

That continued for about 3 months…

And then I saw the weight starting to fall off. People in my neighborhood began noticing and making compliments. I felt powerful!

That motivated me to do more, and the more I did, the more I got my mojo back.

I began running outdoors (with so many eyes on me!), and I couldn’t believe the results I was seeing.

Not all features were necessary for me, though. I loved running outside, so the treadmill mode wasn’t as important for me. But if you’re one of those people who prefer using a treadmill, you’re not going to be left behind. Joggo has a specific mode just for you.

I have gained a lot from this app.

I no longer take insulin shots, and I feel like I have the power to do more.

I no longer feel ashamed running outside and don’t feel like I have to hide my body all the time. When people laugh, I no longer feel like they are laughing at me.

Right now, I have been teaching my 2 kids the joy of healthy eating and exercise. And they are having fun with it as well.

After my 25-year battle with obesity, for the first time, I was able to manage it! I couldn’t believe I had put off making this change for such a long time, but I was ecstatic that I had finally done it!

Joggo had given me the best gift I could’ve ever asked for – it had given back my joy for life, and I truly felt that for the first time in a long time, I was finally running my own life!

Could your dream body be just one quiz away too?

If you’re tired of being sick and want to take charge of your life, I truly recommend giving Joggo a try. It helped me turn my life around, and it could help you too.
