It’s AWESOME to finally experience full mobility in my shoulders again.
I never imagined something as simple as a rope (!) would help me take care of the nagging injury that plagued me for months.
If you’ve been experiencing aches and stiffness in your body, you’re in for a great read.
Let’s start at the beginning…
My name is Jane. I’m 33 and work as a sales representative for a fast fashion company in Colorado. My dad is a tennis coach, and my mother is a high school P.E. teacher.
Both my brother and I were introduced to tennis when we were kids.
I was particularly fond of the sport and was a casual player for years. It kept me in shape and helped me relax from work.
As you may know, tennis can be harsh on the body, especially the shoulder joints.
I learned this in the worst possible way. I was playing a friendly match with my friend Lauren. Nothing I hadn’t done a hundred times before.
But that time, I neglected to warm up properly before the game. Moments into the game, I felt a snap in my right shoulder as I did a quick overhead movement.
The pain was incredible. Lauren rushed me to the hospital to have it checked.
I was told I badly injured my rotator cuff and received orders to avoid any form of physical exercise for 2 months.
Every time I tried swinging my racket, I felt a sharp pain running through my shoulder.
Eventually, I had no choice but to give up. However, even though I wasn’t actively straining my shoulder, the nagging injury persisted. Whenever I moved my arm beyond a certain range of motion, it hurt.
I saw a physical therapist, and he showed me a few stretches, but they offered temporary relief – at best.
When sports are such a big part of your identity and you suddenly lose your ability to exercise, it really takes a toll on your mental health…
I stopped having an outlet for stress. Eating became my escape. And before I knew it, I piled on 15 pounds.
Slowly but surely, I slipped into depression. My brother John, a gym instructor based in LA, visited me once I shared how I felt over a call.
He told me I needed to reteach my shoulders how to move with fluidity. So he brought a special rope called Octomoves to help me recover.
I was intrigued when he showed me how to use it. It was nothing like a jumping rope. Flow roping looked like a mixture of taichi and aerobics.
Getting the movements right was a little tricky, but I had my brother help me out. My first objective was to wave my rope in a smooth 8-figure-like pattern.
You just wave the flow and allow your body to follow its movement. During the first 3 days, I felt a slight tingling pain in my shoulder, so I kept my pace slow.
The key is to relax and let the flow rope do its job. I was doubtful, but in around 2 weeks, I felt tight knots all over my upper back loosening up.
Flow roping became my daily meditation.
After around 30 days of daily flow roping, I was able to rotate my shoulders fully with no pain.
My doctor told me that a big part of my recovery was that my body slowly healed on its own over time.
But he recommended I keep practicing with my flow rope, because whatever the rope did, it worked.
I’ve continued to use my flow rope daily ever since. It’s helped me mitigate all sorts of aches and discomforts in my body.
One of the unexpected side effects is that I’ve dropped most of the extra weight I gained.
I never felt tired flow roping, so I was able to get my whole body moving every day, burning tons of calories.
This is really important. Any other form of exercise I’ve ever done in my life caused me to wake up achy and sore the next day.
I’ve never, ever experienced that with flow roping. In fact, I felt better after exercising. This kept me on track and motivated me to stay active every day.
There’s no product that’s perfect for everyone.
I don’t know if Octomoves’ flow rope will work for you as great as it does for me.
But for me personally, I know flow roping is the only thing that made a difference.
Editor’s Note: There are 4 different sets of flow ropes, each best for different needs.

After working long hours at my desk job, I can always feel the stiffness in my back and shoulders, so these workouts with ropes sounds like a good idea to move more during my breaks. Will give them a try
I bought these ropes a year ago and I totally agree – it’s a workout that doesn’t feel like it. It’s fun and doesn’t cause soreness after and I feel more flexible than ever and I’m 54!
What an inspiring story, nice to hear that it’s possible to reduce the annoying pain that distracts us from everyday life… I’m actually experiencing something similar, so I feel like we should try these ropes with my husband. And I’ve never heard of them before so excited to try them out.
