Hi, I’m Michelle Davis.
Just a few months back, I was overweight, celebrating my 53rd birthday.
Mom of 5, I’d given all my time, energy, and love to my kids.
Until one day, I realized I failed to see how off-track my own life was getting.
With every birthday, I felt like I’d missed another chance of getting my life back together.
I wasn’t paying attention to what I was eating, and I wasn’t exercising or really being physically active at all.
While my self-worth was getting increasingly lower, the number on the scale was doing quite the opposite.
I’ve gained so much weight I was embarrassed about my body.
It was uncomfortable too.
Simple tasks like dressing up, tying my shoes, or even walking for more than ten minutes became a struggle.
I was trying to push these problems away because I had my kids to focus on.
But now that they’re all grown up and taking care of themselves, I felt like I couldn’t run from who I’ve become anymore.
Suddenly, the excess weight and deteriorating health became a visible problem.
On my 53rd birthday, my children gave me a gift that would change my body in just under a month
I didn’t know it then, but it’s shocking now to understand how one small thing can turn into a life-transforming event.
They gave me a ticket to Dubai. They said it was time for me to take a break.
I was hesitant. Little did I know I would come back home having lost more than 30lb.
But at that time I thought I didn’t need a break. I’d never been a fan of vacations.
I dreaded even the thought of having to show up in a bathing suit or in just about anything that covered my body less than the baggy clothes I wore at home.
I was embarrassed about my body and could never fully relax because of that.
But they insisted.
“Oh, great, now I’ve gotta deal with that!” was all I could think.
So I packed my things.
Even a swimsuit, I was sure, would never actually leave the suitcase. I was ready to just get this trip done and over with.
There I was, going to Dubai all by myself…
Once I landed, my stomach reminded me it was time for a very late lunch.
I asked the hotel receptionist for a good place to give the local cuisine a go. But she said it was actually Ramadan – everyone was fasting from sunrise to sunset.
I was shocked. However, I had no other choice but wait.
When the sun finally set, I went to the first place I saw open and ordered a kebab.
I was savoring every bite of this delicious goodness and really immersing myself in the experience.
Also, I was surprised that people ate so late here and considered it normal.
Especially when all the Western culture promotes not eating after 6 pm! Here they didn’t even sit at the tables until 7 pm.
That day I got to experience this fasting routine, too.
And honestly, I hadn’t felt so satisfied after a meal in years! I became curious.
Three unexpected things I found out about intermittent fasting
So I started my research.
I didn’t expect to find that intermittent fasting was also a popular form of diet practiced in the US. Mostly by people looking to lose weight effortlessly and live a healthier life!
Apparently, the most popular protocol for intermittent fasting is 16:8, meaning there are 8 hours full of eating.
But what’s most important is I discovered the long list of incredible health benefits of intermittent fasting, one of them being almost effortless and rapid weight loss.
Not to mention lower blood pressure and the reduced risk of heart disease!
I was hooked.
The decision that changed me
I decided to give it a try. I couldn’t eat during the day anyways.
I just wasn’t really sure I would be able to do it the right way or stay accountable on my own.
So I searched the internet for different fasting guides. After reading numerous reviews, I chose the one that later got me the results I wasn’t expecting.
Right from the moment I decided to give it a go, the beginner’s guide to intermittent fasting popped into my email.
I didn’t have to register anywhere or download anything. All of the information was conveniently sent to my email daily by a professional nutritionist and her team.
That was really an easy start.
The results came surprisingly quickly
I felt lighter (and the scale proved I wasn’t imagining it), more energetic, and I hadn’t slept this well in a decade. I’d never felt more clear-headed, too.
I had three more weeks left in Dubai by then, so I used the email guidance to fast throughout this time.
Couldn’t have done without it, actually.
By the end of the vacation, I even took my swimsuit out in the sun.
My family was shocked to see my changes!
As I got back home, the expressions on my kids’ faces said it all. Their jaws dropped.
I’d lost 32lb and gained endless energy and self-confidence.
I had the body I was finally comfortable in. And slowly but surely, the weight just kept dropping.
I was still receiving and reading emails from the fasting guide daily.
I never felt hungry and could see myself becoming a much calmer and happier person.
Also, I get to enjoy the amazing meal plans and delicious recipes that pop into my inbox every day.
Not to mention the ongoing support!
