Sometimes, it may feel like every diet plan is meant to fail. Well, it’s because most of them are designed by men for men and not for women’s complex hormonal needs.
Like our hero Kate, whose story we share today, you might find that the “eat less and move more approach” is a much more complex solution for women. Especially for women over 40!
I am Kate. Not so long ago, I remember dieting for my 45th birthday party. As I was approaching this milestone, I evaluated my life. Sure, there were some incredible, joyous achievements like starting my own business, raising two wonderful kids, and having a wonderful partner.
But I just couldn’t stop checking myself in the mirror. Somewhere along the way, I stopped taking care of myself, and now subconsciously, I was covering it up. My closet was full of large tunics and oversized blouses – nothing too tight.
It’s now or never, I remember telling myself.
So I intentionally bought a dress one size too small. That’s how determined I was to lose weight before that special birthday party.
I remember, on that day, I was already exhausted from eating bland foods and drinking nothing but iced water for weeks.
My mood was horrible. Everything and everyone made me irritable. Even my husband wasn’t having it with me.
And it was my birthday! I expected to be happy and excited, but…
I was crying from exhaustion and felt the urge to fix this state ASAP. I didn’t know what had taken over me.
I turned to the same solution as many times before. The one I knew would make me feel better, even if for just a moment.
There’s a grocery store just down the street. I quickly put a jacket over my pj’s and pretty much ran over there.
It felt almost euphoric knowing I was about to get some sugar.
And indeed, I did. Four packs of chocolate chip cookies and a 24oz caramel Frappuccino later, I was lying on the bed with a stomach ache, feeling sorry for myself. Again.
I knew binge eating was not only making me gain weight but also causing severe health issues.
At that point, my hair was falling out like crazy. All that daily sugar I was consuming caused breakouts on my face, making me look like a spotted teenager again. My nails were so weak that I didn’t even get them done for the party.
Let’s just say I didn’t look as radiant and beautiful as I expected on my birthday.
Oh, and of course, I changed my outfit at the last minute.
I’m sharing this painful experience because it does have a very happy ending. Or should I say, a very happy new beginning?
I see it for you too!
So, how did I go from trying to be invisible to being the confident woman I always aspired to be?
Well, as I’m about to share below, I was approaching my healthy weight goals and overall wellness the wrong way – especially as I entered my 40s.
It was like a lightbulb had gone off in my head when I figured it out.
I managed to get off the fad diet roller coaster and started taking care of myself first.
While I was sad, thinking I had wasted so much time… I was also glad, knowing I could help other women going through what I went through.
I hope you learn from my mistakes. So, here it is…
Let’s be real. We’re all built differently.
As I was getting older, I noticed that my body was changing even though my routine and diet barely did over the years.
I started following every “new” diet that got popular. Most of these diets recommended I stop eating certain types of foods, such as carbs – even some veggies.
But what I discovered was that your metabolism slows down drastically with age.
And all the popular diets out there followed a “one-size-fits-all” approach, created mainly by men for men. They were not designed to cover my specific nutritional and hormonal needs.
As I put my body through this nonsense, I experienced nutritional imbalances, which caused cravings and emotional eating.
It happened again, and again, and again…
I now know that a great way to ensure your body gets everything it needs to thrive is a personalized plan with professional guidance.
After my 45th birthday, I shared my feelings with my husband. He asked me a question that changed everything.
He asked: “Why do you care if you fit into that dress? It’s just a piece of fabric. I love you. Our kids love you.”
And it hit me… It was indeed just a piece of fabric.
While I was obsessing over fitting into a dress, my brilliant kids were growing up, and I was missing out on this!
I decided I wanted to spend more time playing with them, enjoying nature, and exploring.
I made my wellness and health my top priority. I knew how I showed up for myself would determine how I showed up for my family.
I told myself: “I set my goals, not some magazines or billboards.”
When I changed my mindset and started looking for a solution, I quickly found that most health gurus and wellness books talk about a “balanced lifestyle” as something incredibly easy to achieve.
According to them, you should eat at certain times, train five times a week, cook meals with ingredients you can barely spell, and feel motivated no matter what.
For me, that’s incredibly far from reality.
I have a career that I love, and I have kids and a husband I want to spend quality time with.
But with so much information out there, I felt hopeless and lost.
I wondered how on earth I was going to pull this one off.
I already made a promise to my husband, my children, and most importantly – myself…
I turned to my friend Jenna, who’s had the most stunning glow-up recently. She is the same age as me, has a thriving career, and also has two kids.
I knew it was possible for me too!
Jenna shared her discovery that most fad diets don’t consider the effect hormones have on weight and fat gain. Our hormone levels have fluctuated monthly for decades.
Then around our age, women experience major hormonal shifts again.
So we need a personalized wellness plan that works WITH our bodies.
Jenna shared her secret with me, and I’m sharing it with you because it transformed my life.
I lived in shame, hiding from the world in my oversized clothes, hoping that someday things would just change.
I had my glow up at 45, and it’s never too late for you too!
So what was it?
It’s called Beyond Body.
All I did was answer a few simple questions in this free quiz. It took me less than 3 minutes.
What I received was the exact opposite of the fad diets that kept letting me down. Professional nutritionists customized my plan for my specific needs and goals.
Their app did everything for me. What used to frustrate me – such as tracking calories, counting protein, and planning meals – was all done for me already.
Plus, I get to pick from hundreds of personalized recipes that take no longer than 15 minutes to make. Now I get to spend more time with my family.
Yes, the first few days were a little trickier, but things got much easier after my body adjusted. I would find myself eating healthy foods and actually enjoying them because they would taste amazing.
I no longer have to rely on my willpower or deal with constant cravings.
It feels like I have a personal nutritionist in my pocket who keeps me focused, accountable, and motivated. My husband is very grateful for this too! We get to talk about more fun things now.
The day I turned 45 was the day my new life began.
I’m now excited for every day. My business is beaming, my relationship with my husband has never been better, and I get up to so many adventures with my kids.
Now, I know why it’s called Beyond Body.
See it for yourself.
Thank you for your comment
All my life, if I got 20 or so lbs overweight, I would just do keto or WW, jog every day, and the weight woukd fall off. Now I’m 55 and post menopausal, and I am just shocked that literally nothing I do helps me lose weight or budges the visceral fat around my belly. Does your program help with that?
I’m 64 & over weight from to much stress l need to lose the weight.
