Is it just me, or do we all have at least one friend who seems to be eating more than you, not necessarily exercising but is still thin as a rail?
I’m honestly jealous. Slim people always seem confident with their bodies. And the fact that they can wear tight clothes without worrying that their belly is sticking out…
Or wear skirts without their thighs rubbing to the point where it feels like burning…
I would sometimes ask my closest friends who fall into this “slim” category how they do it. And I never got the answer that would help me lose weight.
Losing weight became especially difficult when I hit 40
I understood that I was gaining pounds without changing my eating habits.
I panicked. I didn’t want to gain any more weight because the stubborn fat was already all over my body – my stomach, thighs, arms, and even chin.
My clothes were already not fitting my body. I only had a few pieces that I could wear without feeling extremely conscious about how I looked.
The thought of having to buy new – larger size – clothes was scary and sad.
I was looking for a solution and tried every popular diet I could find
It all started with exercising. All I heard at the time was that exercise will help me lose weight and see results in a week or so.
So, I did my best, and I don’t even like exercising. I never did.
But I gave it my all for a week. I needed that boost of motivation.
I was hoping to lose at least a few pounds. Then I would be motivated to keep exercising and finally would lose enough fat to feel good about myself.
I can’t even describe the sadness and helplessness that went through my body when I saw that I didn’t lose any weight.
I was sad, but honestly can’t exactly say that I was surprised. Exercising an hour per day made me feel hungrier than ever.
I knew I was eating more than I should’ve. But the hunger pains were unbearable. So I would exercise and then reward myself with more food than usual. And more snacks.
When I understood that exercise is not the answer to actually losing weight, I became a “serial dieter”
I started with restrictive diets, omitting all of my favorite foods. I tried only eating veggies and even counting food points.
Low carb, high fat, clean eating – I know it all by heart. I didn’t have the stamina to suffer the hunger pains and cravings for more than a couple of days.
Every time I quit a diet and started a new one, I felt sadder and more devastated than before.
After so many failed diets, I thought about how my mind was in a different space than my body. I was still very young and active in my mind.
But my body resembled someone who looked older than her actual age. I became distant with my friends, especially with the ones I found thinner and, therefore – I thought – more successful than me.
Ketosis – the key to burning body fat
Browsing yet another way to lose weight, I found keto. Which I thought was the answer to what I was looking for.
I failed this diet too, but that was how I learned about ketosis. And it opened my eyes.
After having some significant side effects with keto, I searched the internet for why that happened to me and how to get rid of it. And I stumbled on the word ketosis.
Apparently, ketosis is when the body burns fat and makes things called ketones, which it can use for fuel.
Ketosis is a word you’ll mostly find when looking for information on diabetes or weight loss.
One of the methods to go into ketosis (or fat burning in simpler terms) is eliminating carbs from your diet.
I’ve tried it in the past. It seemed too restrictive, and I felt like I deprived myself of the foods I love the most.
However, I learned that another method to initiate ketosis and get our stubborn fat burning quick is intermittent fasting.
Besides, intermittent fasting also burns visceral fat (the fat surrounding your inner organs, which can be especially harmful). And it turns out intermittent fasting can also:
- …reduce your insulin resistance (1)
- …reduce inflammation in your body (2, 3)
- …help your heart health (4, 5)
- …repair your cells (6)
- …benefit your mental health (7)
- …extend your lifespan (7)
And these are only a few benefits that IF can give so that you can live longer, healthier, and happier.
Burning fat and losing weight – this time successfully
I needed to get into ketosis to burn fat. Since I learned I could do it through intermittent fasting (not through restrictive dieting), I wanted to do everything right.
My goal was not to fail this time. That’s why I needed help to do everything correctly. I didn’t want to leave any room for error.
That is how I found DoFasting – a fasting app that delivers intermittent fasting assistance every step of the way.
I started my intermittent fasting journey with a one-minute quiz by DoFasting.
Despite being so short, it gathered preliminary information about my lifestyle and body while giving me bits and pieces of information on intermittent fasting, too.
When my answers were in, it took a few moments to analyze them and the analysis popped up. I was fascinated to learn how personalized the information was.
And how quickly I could achieve my goal weight.
And that is without any strict diets, food restrictions, or hunger pains.
I went along with the app. From day one, I used it as a guide, and it was the only thing I trusted in the process.
It shows my personalized daily plan, so I open the app first thing in the morning and follow where it leads me. I do not have to worry about anything.
- It has a time tracker to know precisely when my eating window starts and finishes. There’s also an option to edit start or set a reminder for the next fast.
- It includes tasks for that day like updating my weight (one of the most pleasurable things now, because every time I stand on the scales, I see the number go down).
- I can log my calories if I want (I know it’s not for everyone, but it turns out my friends do count what they eat).
- I can track my water intake and set goals for the steps. These features made me want to drink more water and do more steps without actually trying or thinking much about it.
- Various workouts, including top picks for me, are there if I feel like moving a bit. I mainly go for short beginner workouts.
And I always enjoy reading articles of the day that are extremely helpful and relevant. For example, today’s theme was on snacking and how to control cravings.
Perfect content and perfect timing for me.
I’m getting results because I’m doing everything right this time
I feel safer and more sure about the weight loss process.
Besides the daily schedule, I have access to delicious meal recipes and workouts on my app.
Intermittent fasting boosts ketosis, which shows best on the decreasing inches on my body (especially around my belly).
It also reduces hunger to the absolute minimum.
One of the things I feared the most – constantly craving food and being hungry – was not prominent at all.
This lifestyle also doesn’t interfere with my now way more active social life. I’m in my 40s, but I feel like 30 again. I’m more and more confident every day.
It is incredible how having the correct information and guidance from the DoFasting intermittent fasting app changed my perspective on weight loss.
I’ve lost 12lb in the first month, and I intend to reach my goal weight in 2 more months (thanks to ketosis induced by intermittent fasting).
So what exactly makes DoFasting so effective?
Here’s my honest review:
