What kind of decisions can your gut make? It can coordinate reflexes (i.e., vomiting toxic foods that would make you sick), the secretion of digestive enzymes and the creation of gastrointestinal hormones gastrin and secretin.
90% of your body’s serotonin can be found in the gut. It regulates your sleep-wake cycle and the movements in the digestive system.
Basically, your gut impacts most functions of your body, from eating to sleeping to getting stressed or excited.
How to Improve Your Microbiota?
- Your gut bacteria love plants, fiber, and fermented foods. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
- Try to avoid using antibiotics unnecessarily. It wipes out all microbes, including the good bacteria.
- Aim to eat organic meat. Antibiotics are usually fed to farmed animals to ensure weight gain, and it’s linked with obesity.
- A sedentary lifestyle can lead to a low diversity of bacteria in your stomach. Get moving!
- Choose natural fiber-rich supplements. If you want to achieve faster results, use fiber-rich supplements that flush out toxins, and enrich your gut microbiota.
