How Women Over 40 Are Losing Weight With Diabetes Management Plan Without Counting a Single Calorie

“Manage your weight or get ready to take an insulin shot every day.”

My diabetologist’s words eerily echoed in the room.

I’ve been suffering from type 2 diabetes for almost 13 years now.

My doctor recommended that I check my blood sugar levels at least every six months.

But I stopped doing that as all my reports were normal.

I assumed that I’d do fine.

A BIG mistake!

This “schedule” continued for a few months until I started to feel tired.

I was no longer able to do things that I could easily do before. For instance, I couldn’t cook a meal without taking a break every few minutes.

Sensing something was wrong, I got my blood sugar levels checked.

And to my surprise, my random blood sugar was 270mg/dL, almost two times more than normal.

I was put on some medication, along with exercise and dietary changes.

This included avoiding carbs, maintaining calories under 1,300 per day, and doing 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercises.

And so, I started brisk walking for at least five days a week for 30 minutes as advised.

My diet was the main concern.

Not because I was careless, but because I would go off track. Having a sweet tooth made it really difficult to curb sugar cravings.

On other occasions, I’d eat foods with hidden carbs that would cause a spike in my blood glucose levels.

And every time there was a sudden spike, I felt fatigued so much that it was difficult to even stand.

It was impossible to play around with my kids and even take care of them. Family weekends together were embarrassing. My co-sisters had to take care of most things as I would feel tired most of the time.

The guilt of being dependent on others and not taking care of my kids left me frustrated.

And all this stress resulted in binge eating. It was a vicious cycle, you see.

On top of that, I had a hard time keeping track of my calories, too.

And as a result… my sugar levels were higher than before.

“You must manage your weight or get ready to take an insulin shot every day.”

This was my doctor’s ultimatum, as taking insulin shots was my greatest fear.

I heard from people who had been put on insulin that they developed multiple problems, including shakiness and heart palpitations.

They couldn’t go anywhere without carrying insulin with them and always had to adjust their carb intake with the insulin dose.

Fewer or greater carbs would result in hypo and hyperglycemia, respectively.

And I didn’t want this life for me!

I knew there had to be a way out.

So, I started browsing the internet and scanning various books for solutions that could help.

I tried every diet possible. Atkins, Paleo, intermittent fasting… you name it, I’ve done them all.

But I’d fall off the bandwagon soon. For me, these diets were impractical.

What if I feel hungry in the evenings?

What if I don’t always have the time to cook every day?

I even gained a few pounds because of my negligence and not being able to understand meals with hidden carbs.

It was so frustrating. I was trying various things but falling flat on my face.

I was almost about to give up…

When I met a close friend who had always been obese, as far as I remember, and complained about joint problems.

But, there was a significant change in her as compared to the last time I met her.

She looked stunning! I couldn’t help but notice the confidence with which she was speaking.

She was even a successful entrepreneur, managing her health along with her business.

On inquiring, she shared her journey about how diabetes was the cause of her problems and that she almost lost her eyesight to diabetes because of her negligence.

But thankfully, she could overcome the problems.

And her secret was…

A diabetes program that helped her in the journey toward her dream life.

She also told me the app that helped her and people at any stage of their diabetes is called Klinio.

Frankly, I had my doubts. I mean, I had tried so many diets and exercise programs I lost count… and NONE of them worked.

But seeing her progress motivated me to give it a try.

I downloaded the app to explore how it worked.

Before getting started, I took the quiz that asked for my details, including age, gender, diet preference (even vegetarian and vegan options were included), foods I love, history of any other medical conditions, number of meals I’d love in a day, and much more.

After getting all my details, Klinio provided me with a PERSONALIZED diet plan curated for my specific needs for managing diabetes.

The app took care of the calorie count and offered recipes based on my carbs and other macronutrient requirements.

To be honest, when I started with the plan, the first few days were difficult. I felt hungry and couldn’t stick to the diet when I went out to eat with my family.

After sharing my problem with Klinio’s support, they told me I could swap the recipe in my diet plan with other options available. They have more than 45,000 diabetes-friendly recipes to choose from.

I was also worried if I would be able to improve my eating habits.

But the app kept me accountable for my actions and provided me with regular insights.

And tracking calories was no longer a headache.

The app helped me select my ideal calorie and carb intake, as well as what recipes to choose.

I started feeling light and active again. And the best part? This was within the first two weeks.

After five weeks of the program…

For the first time in four years, my blood glucose levels were on a downward trend.

Even my doctor noticed the difference and agreed that he would not put me on insulin if I continued losing weight and my numbers went lower.

I was over the moon when I heard that.

His words and decreasing blood sugar levels further motivated me to continue the management plan.

Some factors in Klinio that helped me stay on track are:

  • It tracked my caloric intake, macronutrient composition, and the amount of sugar and cholesterol I could take
  • I had 45,000+ recipes to choose from
  • I could also swap ingredients in recipes
  • I had easy-to-prepare recipes that could be made within 15–20 minutes
  • I could even adjust the plan based on my progress
  • I felt that I always had an expert to help me whenever I needed

Now, only after a few months of use, my blood sugar levels are back to normal.

I also lost those excess pounds and feel more confident.

My energy levels are back, and I’m on my toes again!

Now, I also proudly share my before and after pictures to motivate others.

I no longer have to worry about maintaining my blood sugar levels and the threat of needing an insulin shot every day.

From feeling like a failure to feeling proud of myself, I’ve come a long way.

While taking care of my family, I also take care of my health.

In fighting the fear of not taking insulin, I found a plan that helps me manage diabetes without any stress.
