How I Managed My Diabetes Before Losing My Vision

It began with a simple fluff in my eye (well, I thought it was fluff or some sort of fly) and ended with me having major problems with my vision.

Hi, my name is Laura, I’m 58, and I have type 2 diabetes.

Since the loss of vision in the left eye, my diabetes has been well-managed.

My A1C is down from 7.3 to 5.5, while my weight went from 198 to 165 pounds.

Today, I feel much more in control of my life and my condition.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t like this around three years ago.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I was 40 years old.

And frankly, I did not manage it properly.

Back then, I simply struggled with creating new habits and sticking to them.

On top of that, I was terrible at balancing my diet as I loved eating whatever and whenever.

And you probably know where I’m going with this.

Because of my chaotic diet and not sticking to the habits, I didn’t control my blood sugar levels as well as I should have.

All these self-discipline things such as daily exercising, a balanced diet, and monitoring blood glucose were too much for me.

I was already struggling with the habit of regular exercising, so having to implement entirely new habits was a disaster!

But that’s not only it. I was also a heavy smoker.

My smoking habit began in my college years when I would have one or two cigarettes while socializing.

But that eventually led to an addiction, which definitely didn’t help with my diabetes management.

Unfortunately, after a couple of years of trying to stick to my diabetes management, I failed hard. And the problem was that I did not take my condition seriously.

Until one day, my vision started to blur.

At first, I thought it was just a tiny fluff or a little fly that had gotten into my eye.

But when I turned my attention to something else, the thing that was in my left eye moved along with my eye movements.

That worried me a fair bit.

So, I went to the emergency room to find out what was wrong.

After a few checkups, I was told that I had bleeding in my retina.

Then I was scheduled for an emergency appointment at the nearby eye care center.

There, I went through multiple tests and injections of dye into my eye.

Eventually, I got my diagnosis – proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

This retina specialist suggested immediate laser treatments for both eyes to stop the bleeding and prevent any further possible bleeding.

Unfortunately, the procedure didn’t prevent that…

So, the second laser treatment happened, leaving me with blurred vision, especially in my left eye.

Many different thoughts and emotions went through my mind back then.

As time went on, my left eye was getting worse, while seeing with my right one was a bit more bearable.

I could mostly see various shapes and colors, but if I needed to see anything in detail – I couldn’t.

It felt that all the things that I was doing got affected. I had to stop reading because I couldn’t see words and sentences.

I had to stop driving or doing simple chores around the house. I felt that I was paralyzed by this vision disability.

Eventually, my right eye got better with time, but I couldn’t see anything properly with the left one. Today, I’m not sure if the vision will ever come back to my left eye.

So, to prevent any other health issues due to my diabetes, I had to make some changes in my life. I had already lost partial eyesight. I couldn’t risk it anymore.

Surely, the first thing I did was quit smoking. It definitely wasn’t easy, but I had to do it for the sake of my health and my future.

My next step was to search for practical tools to help me manage my type 2 diabetes.

The search took me a while as I tried many different products and apps that could help me get the hang of my condition.

Many other products mainly offered a single function, such as monitoring blood sugar levels or giving me diabetes-friendly meals.

But I knew I needed one single platform where I could have everything I needed to track my progress and keep myself accountable.

So, I came across this app called Klinio. At that point, I didn’t have any expectations as I tried so many other options that did not suit me. So, this app was the last stop in my search.

I found out that Klinio is this diabetes-management tool that has every feature I was looking for.

Well, it helps you lose weight by giving you an entirely personalized meal plan.

The plan is based on your given information such as diabetes type, weight, age, food preferences, etc.

Because of my type 2 diabetes and my negligence, I gained quite a bit of weight, and that bothered me A LOT.

So, with these personalized meals, I managed to drop extra weight and find some delicious meals which I can cook daily and enjoy with my family.

Another great thing I found about Klinio is that it comes with this activity logging feature.

Here, I was able to connect my blood glucose tracking device and keep a record of my blood sugar levels.

This was perfect as I needed some sort of practical tool to watch my glucose levels and see whether they were fluctuating.

With Klinio, I was also more motivated to exercise and do daily workouts.

It gave me a bunch of different workout plans to choose from.

And I logged all my activities on the app, which was incredible!

Now, I could see all of my progress and consult with my doctor by showing him my body data.

Klinio definitely wasn’t just a regular app.

It really helped me stay accountable by constantly logging glucose levels.

I also discovered thousands of personalized meal recipes that I could fit into my daily routine.

I believe that the personalized meal plan feature played the biggest role in reducing my blood sugar levels.

Every day I ate what the app recommended and, after a short while, I noticed that my blood glucose was not fluctuating as much as before.

Also, I lost quite a bit of weight (around 20 pounds)!

That makes me really happy as I felt I had that unnecessary weight which left me unsatisfied with myself.

The combination of custom meal plans and easy home workouts has helped me feel more myself than ever before!

Now I finally feel that I got the hang of my diabetes condition!

With over 10,000 personalized meal recipes, I found joy in managing my diabetes.

Every day I explore these recipes and choose which ones I prefer the most without excluding some sort of ingredients from my diet.

Frankly, not all meal plan recipes you’ll love.

But because of Klinio’s versatility, you can change your preferred ingredients and receive meal recipes that are more suited to you.

It’s incredible, and believe me, I’m one of those people who struggles to stick to anything new and different.

Klinio really helped to better understand my condition and keep it stable as much as possible.

I encourage you to try this app and get the hang of your diabetes condition as soon as possible.

Because your health is at significant risk if your diabetes is not taken seriously.

I’ve been there, and I regret my actions now. My distorted vision reminds me of these actions every single day.
