Here’s how I finally lost the weight that was holding me back in my golden years
It all started last year when the pandemic restrictions were lifted and I was finally able to visit my daughter.
I was pouring myself a cup of coffee in her kitchen when I heard my grandson walk in the front door, home from school.
But before I could turn around and walk out to give him a big hug, he said something that made me freeze on the spot:
My heart started pounding as I felt the blood rushing to my face…
“Shh – don’t say that, honey! That’s your Grandma!”
But as difficult as that moment was…
I’m thankful it happened.
Because without it, I’d never have taken back control over my health. And I never would have lost the weight I’d been trying to shift for decades.
After all, I had tried everything.
The keto diet. Vegan diets. Low-carb diets.
I even tried lifting hand weights at the local gym and spending hours on the elliptical.
But no matter what, my body didn’t want to let go of the excess weight.
But now, I was determined to change things once and for all.
I ended up visiting my neighbor, Melanie, to ask her advice.
I’m 57, and she’s 55. We both work hard and juggle a bunch of responsibilities at home. But despite that, Melanie had recently lost a lot of weight.
In fact, I started wondering if she had surgery… she just looked so good!
So I mustered up the courage to ask her how she did it.
She smiled, paused for a moment, and then admitted that she, too, had battled with her waistline for years.
But about 8 months ago, Melanie discovered something that changed her life and weight!
Walking? I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“Well, it’s not just walking,” Melanie grinned.
She told me that she had lost almost 40 lbs by doing a certain type of daily walks, light exercise, and making tiny changes to her diet.
I was desperate to learn more and pressed Melanie for more information.
She told me about scientific studies that compared healthy people in their 50s to those with chronic health issues.
And the biggest difference between the two groups?
The number of steps they took each day!
See, healthy people in their 50s normally walked 8,500 steps or more each day. While those with health issues rarely took more than 2,200 steps!
Meaning that a few extra minutes of walking every day were the key difference between healthy 50-year-olds and those that had health problems.
When Melanie first heard from her trainer that she should walk more, she did what any other person would do (me included).
But after he explained how important it was, she decided she was going to try it. After all, it was just walking. It couldn’t hurt – right?
Her trainer told her to track everything herself to make sure she was walking enough. So Melanie started measuring the distances she was walking and calculating her daily steps. Her trainer also developed an exercise and diet routine.
But, just like it sounds – it was a TON of work for her.
“It took me forever to do those calculations every day,” Melanie explained, “and with all the responsibilities I have now, I don’t know if I’d stick to it.”
“But now, I just use the Walking.Diet app to do it all for me!”
Melanie opened her phone and showed me her Walking.Diet personalized walking plan for the week.
She also showed me some of the meal recommendations in the program, which looked delicious!
Melanie said, “The best part is it’s very affordable!”
“I’ve wasted thousands on other programs, that trainer who worked me too hard, the diet shakes, the frozen meals, you name it!”
“But the Walking.Diet app replaced all of that for me. It’s so easy to follow and stick to, and it costs me less than my weekly coffee at my local café!”
And really, it did sound too good to be true.
But if it worked for her…maybe it could work for me?
I had nothing to lose except weight, so I decided to give it a try.
I began with just 30 minutes a day. That was easy.
Instead of driving to get my groceries, I took a quick walk and was done with my workout for the day.
Within weeks, I got so used to walking that I began to follow some of the simple exercises recommended by the Walking.Diet app.
To be honest? I sometimes skip these exercises if I’m feeling tired.
But I never skip my daily walks. They’re just too easy!
Well, it only took a week for me to notice that the belt hole for my pants seemed to be a bit off.
That’s when I realized: I had lost my first pounds!
I rushed to the mirror to check. Yes, my pants were already a tiny bit looser!
I also started feeling much more energetic throughout the day.
But the best surprise was yet to come…
When I stepped on the scales after a month, I had lost 8 lbs!
And I did it simply by walking every day and doing some light exercises – all while enjoying delicious meals recommended by the app.
It was amazing!
All that without exhausting myself at the gym or depriving myself of delicious meals. I couldn’t believe how much energy I had and how good I looked.
And when my family saw my new look… Well, they were stunned!
Now, when people ask me what my secret is, I just smile and tell them the truth:
I walked!
I’m still working toward my goal of losing 130 lbs. But now, I’m confident that I’ll get there.
After decades of struggling to shed my excess weight again and again, the Walking.Diet app is the first thing that made a real difference!

I like walking but never thought it would help me lose weight. And I’ve tried everything, so I will ask my grandson to install this program to my phone
